Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
At Carson Street School, students actively engage in STEM learning through weekly sessions in our dedicated STEM Room, where they explore and develop skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Each term, students participate in hands-on, inquiry-based activities centred around a specific theme, allowing them to interact with key STEM concepts in ways that are accessible, engaging, and tailored to their individual abilities.
Designed to be fully inclusive, the STEM Room ensures that all Carson Street students can participate meaningfully. The space features a range of sensory-rich elements, including music, dynamic lighting, neon visuals, and tactile resources, creating an immersive environment that encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and discovery.
STEM pedagogy is based upon Primary Connections teaching sequences, focusing on developing students’ knowledge, understanding, and skills in science through guided inquiry.
Our dynamic STEM team continually updates and enhances the space to ensure it remains an exciting and stimulating environment, where students actively participate in their learning and enjoy a rich, multi-sensory educational experience.
